Grants, Scholarships, and Tuition Assistance Programs
As more and more emphasis is put on school choice, St. Mary’s is committed to offering excellence in academic and religious education in a way that is affordable for everyone. We will never deny a child the chance to attend St. Mary’s because of financial concerns.
Every student at St. Mary’s is eligible to receive aid to offset the cost of their education. St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish wants to ensure that the young people in the Van Wert community have an opportunity to receive an affordable Christian education. For the 2015-2016 School Year 81% of our School Families received some form of tuition assistance, discount, and or deduction to their tuition expense.
Please complete the Grant Worksheet to see how much in financial aid you would be eligible for.
St. Mary’s also offers the following Scholarship Tuition Assistance Programs to further assist in the cost of tuition: Please fill out either the EdChoice Scholarship Forms or the St. Mary’s of Assumption Tuition Assistance Scholarship form and return them to our School Office with the Tuition Contract and Grant Worksheet.
The EdChoice Expansion Scholarship: Any student entering Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd,or 3rd grade is eligible to have their full tuition paid for by the State of Ohio if their family’s income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines (example: If a family of 4 has a gross annual income less than $48,600 they would qualify).
One Faith Many Blessing Grant: The Toledo Diocese provides us with a grant every year to be used toward tuition assistance. The Diocese allows us to distribute these monies to families as we see fit.
St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School Tuition Assistance Fund: We have been blessed over the years to have many St. Mary of the Assumption Parish members and school families give donations to the school to be used toward helping families in need pay for tuition.
The Richard Say Memorial Transfer Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to any family who is transferring their child(ren) from a local school system to St. Mary’s and are entering 1st through 5th Grade. This is a two year scholarship that is worth a total of $1500.00, paying $1000.00 the first year and $500.00 in the second year.
Scrip: This program allows non-profit organizations, like St. Mary’s, to purchase gift cards for most every-day expenses. The cards, from most major vendors, can then be purchased from the parish/school. A portion of that return can be credited toward a student’s tuition. Since Scrip can be used for almost all every-day expenses, everyone can participate in some way.
